UPDATE: CIHR Project Grant, Fall 2017 Competition Launched

Faculty, Research

CIHR has just announced the launch of the Project Grant competition for Fall 2017

The project grant program is designed to capture ideas with the greatest potential for important advances in fundamental or applied health-related knowledge, the health care system, and/or health outcomes, by supporting projects with a specific purpose and defined endpoint. The Project Grant program is open to applicants in all areas of research that align with its mandate.

In brief, the 2017 Project Grant competition has incorporated the following changes from its original incarnation:

  1. Grant Applications will be reviewed by face-to-face panels, with no online or other prior evaluations.
  2. Applicants will be asked to choose the panel most relevant to their research.
  3. Reviewers will be recruited for a single panel.
  4. Changes to the Project Grant Application form are only minor.
  5. All health-related applications, including multidisciplinary applications are welcome.

College of Reviewers

With the return to face-to-face review panels, the University strongly encourages all of its researchers recently invited to the CIHR College of Reviewers to accept the invitation if at all possible and to work as a community to strengthen peer review quality.  Potential College of Reviewers members may also be nominated at any time by writing to college@cihr-irsc.gc.ca, and including the nominee’s name, faculty rank, Department and Faculty.  These nominees will be considered in subsequent waves of invitations.
