Dr. Gaetan Tardif Fellowship Award

PURPOSE

The Tauba and Solomon Spiro Family Foundation has made a generous commitment to the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute Foundation to create the Dr. Gaetan Tardif Fellowship Award in support of a physician resident in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Tardif’s vision for the Fellowship Award is a scholarship to support the cost of the System Leadership & Innovation (SLI) Program at the University of Toronto, with the intention of developing leadership skills for high performing candidates who will ensure that rehabilitation remains at the forefront of health system innovation and change in the future.

The System Leadership & Innovation (SLI) concentration offered by the Institute of Health Policy, Management & Evaluation at the University of Toronto allows Post Graduate Medical Education students to obtain a non-thesis Master of Science (MSc) focusing on the key aspects of physician leadership for system innovation including leadership and motivation, strategic thinking and planning, research methods for evaluating health system innovation and policy analysis and techniques for system change.

ABOUT THE SYSTEM LEADERSHIP AND INNOVATION PROGRAM

The MSc concentration in SLI allows students to obtain a non-thesis MSc with a focus on the key aspects of physician leadership for system innovation including leadership and motivation, strategic thinking and planning, research methods for evaluating health system innovation and policy analysis and techniques for system change. The MSc SLI concentration is offered in two scheduling formats. The full-time format will allow PGME trainees to complete the MSc degree in one year to 4 sessions. The part-time format will allow UME medical students to complete the MSc degree while they are medical students without having to step away from their UME education and will allow PGME trainees to complete the MSc degree without taking a break from their clinical training program.

More information about the program can be found on the website:
